Laser skin tightening is a minimally invasive, nonsurgical cosmetic treatment. It works by using a laser to heat the collagen in your skin and stimulate further collagen production, tightening your skin and giving you a more youthful appearance.
Laser skin tightening is most often provided to treat:
- Skin that is wrinkly or uneven
- Fine lines around the facial features
- Facial tones
- Skin laxity
- Other problem areas across the body
You should remove all makeup, oils, sunscreens or other substances on your skin prior to receiving treatment. Our dentist will provide a topical anesthetic to minimize any discomfort. We will then use a handpiece to apply brief pulses of laser energy to the skin. Laser skin tightening treatments typically last 30 to 60 minutes. Most patients receive a course of six treatments performed at two- to four-week intervals. It may take up to four treatments before you begin to see results, and the improvement to your skin may continue for up to six months following treatment.
During treatment, you may feel a mild stinging sensation, though this should dissipate within a few minutes of the end of your treatment. Your skin may also feel warm for up to 48 hours after treatment. There is no downtime required for recovery, however, and you may return to your regular activities as soon as you leave our office.
